Week 13 Review: Cue/Queue
As I was looking through the announcements for the past few days, I saw this funny distinction between queue and cue. I think it's funny because when I went the U.K. a few summers ago, I first noticed that they used the term queue instead of line and I thought that was so odd!

I just visited Germany this summer and noticed that they also use queue instead of line! I like this photo because it is a reminder that words that sound the same can be spelled completely different (as well as mean very different things). I have met several international students while at OU, and this by far has been their largest complaint about learning English. This and the various sounds C can make!
ReplyDeleteOh how interesting! I'm going to be in Europe this summer, so I'll keep my ears peeled to different usages of the words we're accustomed to! Queue instead of line... huh! I couldn't even imagine having to learn the english language... like, read/ read? Are you joking me??
ReplyDeleteomg I love this, Kimber. My sister and I used to wonder about queue all the time because in this video game called Roller Coaster Tycoon, it would always say that the people were "queuing" for a ride but we didn't understand what it meant. Did you make this using meme maker?
